The owner applied to re-mortgage their property and this was declined when their surveyor identified Japanese Knotweed in the rear garden and neighbouring property. The Knotweed was also lifting the patio and damaging a retaining wall. The mortgage company requested the property to be inspected by and Invasive Weed Group PCA approved contractor
The owner instructed us to carry out an initial Knotweed Mortgage Report which highlighted the extent of the Knotweed and as part of the report we created a scaled map of the infestation identifying the properties it affected. The Knotweed Management Plan (KMP) we agreed was a cross boundary agreement that treated both affected properties and one that issued a 5 year insurance backed guarantee to each property.
The owner’s mortgage was approved for re-mortgage and the neighbour also had all the professional guarantees for when they sell or re-mortgage.
